Les Arcs Coproduction Village

New features from Icelandic filmmaker Benedikt Erlingsson, Austria’s Bernhard Wenger and Slovak-Austrian filmmaker Alexandra Makarová are among the 17 European projects selected for the Coproduction Village at France’s Les Arcs Film Festival.

The 18th edition of the showcase, which connects projects in development and financing with potential co-producers, sales agents, distributors and financing partners, will run from December 12-15 as part of the Les Arcs Industry Village, alongside the festival taking place December 12-19.

Erlingsson brings Women’s Day, produced by his Icelandic outfit Gulldrengurinn. His previous feature Woman At War premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week in 2018, winning the SACD Award for best screenplay, before becoming Iceland’s Oscar submission.

Wenger, whose debut feature Peacock premiered in Venice Critics’ Week in 2024 and was selected as Austria’s international Oscar submission, returns to Les Arcs with his second feature Last Days Of Summer, produced by Austria’s NGF Geyrhalterfilm. He previously participated in the festival’s Talent Village in 2017 with Peacock.

Makarová, who presented Perla in the festival’s work in progress section in 2024, returns with her third feature Fanny Is Alive, a historical drama set in the aftermath of the Second World War. The project is produced by Austria’s Panama Film, whose credits include Sandra Wollner’s Cannes title Everytime, and coproduced by Germany’s If… Productions Film. Perla premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2025 and went on to win eight Austrian Film Awards, including best feature.

Other projects include Finnish filmmaker Mikko Myllylahti’s second feature Mystery Of The Autumn Killer, produced by Aamu Film Company and coproduced by Denmark’s Snowglobe. Myllylahti previously directed The Woodcutter Story, which premiered in Cannes Critics’ Week in 2022. His latest project, also selected for Critics’ Week’s Next Step II programme, is a thriller about a poet searching for a lost connection.

Ukrainian filmmaker Zhanna Ozirna brings her second feature Intimate Scene, produced by Contemporary Ukrainian Cinema, while Romanian-Hungarian director Cristina Groșan presents Lesdenzero, produced by Czech outfit Xova Film with coproducers in Romania, Hungary and Switzerland.

Spanish focus

Spain is the focus country of this year’s festival, with three Spanish projects selected for the Coproduction Village: Alex Sardà’s debut A Savage Interior, Olivia Delcán’s The Bastard Daughter and Guillermo Galoe’s second feature The Mist.

The festival is partnering with Spain’s ICAA and will welcome a delegation of Spanish industry professionals. Separate Spain-France Co-Production Meetings, organised by ICAA and France’s CNC, will take place on December 15, bringing eight Spanish projects in development together with French producers.

Organisers said the Coproduction Village received a record 496 submissions this year, up from 391 in 2025, with the selection representing 22 countries including co-production partners.

Eight projects are first fiction features, five are second features and four are from more established filmmakers, reflecting a particular emphasis on sophomore projects.

Women are involved in directing nine of the 17 selected projects, including eight directed by women and one by a female-male duo, Morgane Dziurla-Petit and Patrik Forsell, whose 18 Weeks is produced by Sweden’s Kjellson & Wik. Women directed 37% of all submitted projects.

All 17 projects will compete for the €20,000 Eurimages Co-production Development Award and the €6,000 ArteKino International Award.

The Industry Village will also host conferences, meetings, workshops and masterclasses addressing key industry issues and the economic and artistic challenges facing filmmakers, alongside a programme dedicated to music on screen and live concerts.
