Disney’s Avatar: Fire And Ash has opened to £9m from 677 sites in its debut weekend at the UK-Ireland box office, for a strong site average of £13,294, and over 50% of the box office figure coming from 3D screenings. 

Its opening weekend gross is behind the second film in the franchise, Avatar: The Way Of Water, which opened to £11.2m from 725 cinemas in its first weekend in December 2022, and finished on £76.9m. Fire And Ash’s opening is ahead of the first film, which grossed £6.7m from 503 cinemas when it opened in 2009, and totalled £93.6m in the territory.   

The third instalment in James Cameron’s franchise sees stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Stephen Lang joined by Oona Chaplin. It continues the battle between Worthington’s Na’vi warrior and Lang’s villainous Marine, while introducing a new nemesis.

Disney’s Zootropolis 2 added £1.9m, now totalling £18.6m, after four weekends on release.

Universal’s Wicked: For Good added £1.1m in its fifth weekend, dropping 42% on its previous session, now for an overall figure of £42.8m.

Moviegoers’ Indian spy action thriller Dhurandhar continues its successful run, with £386,899 in its third weekend, taking its total up to just shy of £2m.

Universal’s Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 added £373,346, a 63% drop on the previous weekend, with a total of £6.2m after three sessions.

Lionsgate’s Now You See Me, Now You Don’t grossed £86,209 in its sixth weekend, and is on a £6.8m total.

Paramount’s A Paw Patrol Christmas added £53,000, for a cumulative figure of £1.2m after seven weekends.

Studiocanal’s Silent Night, Deadly Night brought in £49,193 in its second weekend, now on £382,073.

Picturehouse and Warner Bros have topped up £41,155 for Pillion on its fourth weekend on release, now totalling £989,045, and looking to cross the £1m mark in the coming days.

Park Circus’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas re-release added £35,845 in its third weekend, now on £269,173.

Mubi’s It Was Just An Accident grossed £28,940 in its third weekend and is now on £369,569.

Studiocanal’s Nuremberg added £23,086 in its sixth weekend, finishing on £3.4m.

Miracle Comms Dazzler’s German children’s Christmas film The Super Elfkins opened to £17,812 from 257 sites, for a location average of £69.

Sony’s The Choral brought in £14,959 and has crossed the £4m mark. 

Sony’s Blue Moon added £7,407, for an overall figure of £289,190 after four weekends on release.

Piece of Magic’s André Rieu’s 2025 Christmas Concert: Merry Christmas has passed the £1m mark after three weekends on release, with £6,744 from 12 screenings in its final session. 

Warner Bros added £5,980 to its The Shining re-release – it now has £318,691 after two weekends on release.

Charlotte Street Films grossed £3,133 from Eugene Jarecki’s Julian Assange documentary The Six Billion Dollar Man.

Scarlett Johansson’s directorial debut Eleanor The Great added £1,479 in its second weekend for Sony, totalling £37,214.
